Leadership

The founding team

Late Mr. Prakash Chandra Amatya
Late Mr. Prakash Chandra Amatya
Founding Chairperson

Prakash Amatya passed away too soon in September 2022. He will be sorely missed by all at Aerosan. He was recognized in the community in Nepal for his work in capacity building and knowledge transfer. He was also an advocate for the migrant and underprivileged urban community. Prakash had a diverse educational background holding a major in Microbiology, Environment and Business Management. He was experienced in promoting rainwater harvesting and freshwater conservation and approached environmental issues from the perspective of the needs and limitations of businesses, municipalities, and non-profit organizations. Upon contributing to the development of urban water supply and sanitation policies that benefit the impoverished, he worked on promoting awareness and compliance for sanitation policies in urban development. This enabled him to further his professional competence in the field of urban community development in order to improve the livelihood and dignity of waste workers in the Kathmandu Valley. He also played an instrumental role in establishing the Freshwater Action Network in South Asia (FANSA) and continued to advocate at the regional and international level. Prakash continued to pursue his expertise in WaSH and urban development to find workable solutions for today’s problems. His professional background, inspiring leadership, optimism, and personal humility earned him a great reputation in the field.
